MINNESOTA PREMIER PUBLICATIONS

I was hired at MPP as a freelance designer and only came in a few days a week. My first duties were to design advertisements according to client requests. The Creative Director soon left the company to start her own business and I was promoted to a full-time graphic designer on the production team.

While I was on the #ProdSquad, I ran production checks to prepare advertisements for print, used copy from the journalism team to create layouts, helped art direct magazine and newspaper covers, assisted with and helped art direct photoshoots, rebranded advertisements, researched and contacted local charities to create filler advertisements, and more. I volunteered to do anything I could think of, including opening mail, learning how to use the post machine, contacting clients, managing social media and giveaways, and eventually even wrote and designed my own column, “Bookshelf.” My column was about the children’s books I would open in the mail that the company received as PR. You can read my columns here.

All Minnesota Parents magazine issues are available here on issuu — I was part of the team from April 2017–September 2018.

The newspapers are not available online, but I assisted with layout, production, design, and proofing.
